What is a Mock Examination?

This is an examination designed to mimic, as closely as possible, the real examination - in terms of content, challenge, experience, and timing. It will normally be held no more than 20 weeks before an exam.

Independent Prep Mock Examinations

Our Independent School Prep Mock examinations in 2026 (ideal for those preparing for KES and KEHS and Solihull School Exams) will be held in June and September.
(English sections prepared and reviewed with The Literacy Club and Maths sections prepared and reviewed with Morine Whyte)
Papers are returned, alongside a breakdown of the writing scores and full video reviews.

Grammar Prep Mock Exams

We recommend Grammar Prep Mocks with Morine or Maumita.

Mocks with Morine:

DATE: Saturday the 11th of July and Saturday the 8th of August, 2026

VENUE: Sports Hall, Harborne Academy, Harborne Road, B15 3JL

TIME: 9.00am to 11.30am to 11.45am (8.45 am entry, 11.30/11.45 am departure)

COST: £65 each.

FORMAT: The format will mirror the real exam, based on the feedback I have received over the last two years. 2 papers of just under 1 hour each, to include all 4 subjects (English, VR, NVR and Maths) in each paper, with the weighting as 25% for each section. July and August mock papers have different content.

FEEDBACK: An anonymous table of scores, the return of your child's paper plus answers and a video of my going over the whole paper.

PURPOSE OF MOCK: Mock exams should be used to familiarise your children with doing an external exam in an unfamiliar place as well as help you decide where you might want to put their efforts over the summer. They should not be regarded as a predictor of eventual outcome as while a significant number of children do score at around the same level in the mocks as they do in the real exam, there are usually about 1/3 of children who score quite differently.

PAYMENT: Payment will be requested at a later date.

Mocks with Maumita:

VENUE: Woodlands School, Woodlands Lane, Shirley B90 2PX

TIME: 09:50AM – 12:00PM

COST: £60 per mock test (discounted price of £225 when booking all four).

COURSE COVERAGE: The mock tests will be split into sections covering: Mathematics, Non‑Verbal and Spatial Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning and English.

(Please note: There will be no online tests, as we aim to emulate the real exam as closely as possible.)
